Coming 18th October 2024, the Madani Government will table the Budget 2025. SMEs comprise roughly 97% of the Malaysian economy, accounting for 48% of employment (about 8 million working adults) and 38% of total Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Under the Madani Economy Framework, the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030, serves as a roadmap for the country's economic development, and the National Energy Transition Roadmap, aims to accelerate the country’s green and sustainable growth agenda, to help with the growth of domestic and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Issues include e-invoicing, energy consumption including fuel, financing to funding, tax cuts. the Digitalisation Grant Scheme (a matching grant of RM 5,000 per entity) and others, are they sufficient to help SMIs/SMEs grow?
As the Government looks to curb its spending, improve on its income collections, having in place mechanisms and various programs to have a better balance sheet - SMIs/SMEs need solutions to curb rising inflation with or without Government intervention. If you are a habitual grocer or a business owner, you will notice that prices of goods and services have increased, wage has increased and even Milo has reduced from 18 sachets to 14 sachets for the same price. Some strategies include:
Increase turnover significantly;
Find ways to reduce costs;
Like Intel and Dyson, digitalise facilities and reduce staff;
Access to corporate financing
and many others.
